Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is a postpartum doula and how can they help me?
A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides support to new parents after childbirth. My role is to help you navigate the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of the postpartum period. I offer assistance with newborn care, breastfeeding support, light household tasks, emotional encouragement, and providing resources to help you truly embrace motherhood.

2. When should I hire a postpartum doula?
It’s ideal to get to know your postpartum doula during pregnancy, but I’m happy to work with families at any point during the postpartum period. I can begin supporting you immediately after you bring your baby home, or we can arrange a more tailored plan based on your specific needs.

3. How long do you provide postpartum support?
The duration of support can vary depending on your needs. Typically, postpartum doula services are offered in 3-hour shifts, and I can provide ongoing support for a few days to several weeks. We can customize the schedule to best fit your family’s needs and goals.

4. What can I expect during my postpartum doula sessions?
During our sessions, you can expect me to provide hands-on support with newborn care (such as diapering, swaddling, and soothing techniques), breastfeeding or lactation guidance, emotional support, and help with household tasks like meal prep or light cleaning. My goal is to ease your transition into motherhood, allowing you to focus on bonding with your baby and taking care of yourself.

5. Do you provide overnight support?
Yes! I offer overnight support to help new parents get much-needed rest. Overnight doula support typically involves helping with nighttime feedings, soothing your baby, and offering guidance on infant sleep, so you can get a better night’s sleep and feel more refreshed.

6. I’ve experienced pregnancy loss. Can you still support me?
Absolutely. Through my own experiences, I understand how deeply a pregnancy loss can impact you, both emotionally and physically. As a postpartum doula, I offer compassionate care, and I’m here to support you in any stage of your parenthood journey. Whether you’re grieving a loss or transitioning to a new pregnancy, I am here to offer comfort, care, and understanding.

7. Do you support families with more than one child?
Yes! Whether you're welcoming your first child or expanding your family, I am here to support you. Managing multiple children while welcoming a new baby can be challenging, and I can assist with helping your older children adjust, providing additional care, and offering guidance on balancing your growing family’s needs.

8. What makes you different from a nanny or babysitter?
While a nanny or babysitter primarily cares for your child, a postpartum doula focuses on supporting the entire family. My role is to help you through the emotional, physical, and practical aspects of the postpartum period. This includes offering emotional support, newborn care, breastfeeding or lactation guidance, and helping you embrace motherhood with confidence.

9. Do you offer virtual support?
Yes! I offer virtual postpartum doula services, including emotional support, lactation consultations, and guidance on newborn care. This can be a great option for those who may need flexible support or cannot have in-person visits.

10. How do I book a postpartum doula session?
You can book a postpartum doula session by filling out the interest form on the "Contact" tab. We will set up a free prenatal consultation. After discussing your needs, we’ll create a personalized plan for support, including the dates and services that work best for your family.

11. How much do postpartum doula services cost?
The cost of postpartum doula services varies depending on the level of support you need. Examples of pricing packages are available under the "Pricing" tab. Please reach out to me directly for a consultation, and I can provide you with more detailed pricing information based on your specific needs.

12. Can my partner or family members be involved in the sessions?
Absolutely! I encourage partners and family members to be involved in the sessions. I believe that postpartum support is most effective when it’s a collaborative effort, and I’m happy to offer guidance and advice to anyone who wants to actively participate in the care of your family.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out! I am here to provide the support and guidance you need to embrace motherhood fully and confidently.
